That said, my plants couldn’t handle that much light, so the light from the nearby windows is good enough for the fish to feel comfortable. If it were me, I would do 10 hours of light in the winter and 14 hours of light in the summer. This actually hasn’t affected the fish too much as danios are tolerant of humans. Unfortunately, what danios call home is perfect for growing rice, so their habitats are shrinking. The only effect of the increase in water temperature is that with warmer water, more female danios are born. We have found them living and thriving in waters with temperatures as low as 50 degrees Fahrenheit up to 101 degrees F without ill effect. The temperature range in which they can be found is amazing.
